beards; the attitudes of the Cannes
Festival directors have kept the anger simmering, even as recently as the 2024 Cannes Festival,
the director’s comments about rape,
jocose comments in the inimitably insolent French manner caused an
uproar… He said that people were
scandalised by Woody Allen & Roman Polanksi & Johnny Depp yet scrambled
for screening ticket, that they cared more about good seats than justice for
rape victims…it wasn’t quite what he said, but people decided to interpret it
that way… ;

= a Feminist petition used to rouse women to the streets, after a series
of sexual harassment & rape scandals, these demonstrations occurred all
over France in Spring of 2012
